  • Burns
  • Trouble speaking
  • Change in mental status
  • A woman in labor
  • An unresponsive person

When Not to Call 911

  • Nonlife-threatening injuries or illnesses:
  • Transportation to a doctor's appointment
  • Dialysis or follow-up medical procedures
  • To pick up a prescription at the pharmacy
  • Running out of medication
  • Oxygen tank refill needs or trouble operating an oxygen tank
