About NCEMS

Staffed by Volunteer Certified Emergency Medical Technicians

Serving Our Town Since 1975

New Canaan EMS ("NCEMS"), formerly known as New Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps ("NCVAC"), provides 911 emergency medical care and transport to either Stamford or Norwalk Hospitals. We are staffed 100% by certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) who volunteer their time to serve our community. In addition to our member EMTs, since 1996 the Town of New Canaan has contracted with Norwalk Hospital to provide a paramedic on location at our NCEMS Headquarters. Paramedics are more highly trained emergency medical professionals who are able to provide Advanced Life Support ("ALS") interventions that may be necessary to treat life threatening emergencies.

We Never Close

NCEMS's Headquarters at 182 South Avenue is staffed 24 hours a day every day of the year with a minimum of two certified EMTs and a Paramedic. NCEMS responded to 1749 emergency medical calls in 2018 - and we are proud that our emergency care is provided consistently, competently, compassionately, and free of charge to our patients.

Working as an EMT is incredibly rewarding

We are actively seeking new members and encourage you to explore our website and learn more about NCEMS, our members, and our esprit de corps.
